The Student Microfinance & Development Initiative's Board of Advisors is a crucial part of the outreach, advice and information the Initiative provides.

The current members are:
Sudradin Akbarali is a Senior Manager of the Microfinance Programs of the Aga Khan Development Network. He has set up microfinance institutions at nine different countries. Sudradin Akbarali is a chartered accountant.
Harry Barkema is currently Professor at the LSE’s Department of Management. He is also the Director of the Innovation Co-Creation Lab at the Rotterdam School of Management. He taught and researched at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (1981-82), The European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management in Brussels (1987), the Simon Business School in Rochester, NY (1989) and the IESE Business School in Barcelona (2003).
Phillip Hylander is currently managing director at Goldman Sachs and global head of Principal Strategic investments at Goldman Sachs. He has extensive experience in the hedge fund industry and previously worked within Deutsche Bank.
Mirjam Schöning is the head of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in Geneva. The foundation selects the highest quality of social entrepreneurs and provides a unique platform for them to interact with decision leaders at the regional and industry level.
