What is the purpose of the Student Microfinance & Development Initiative

The Initiative intends to be a provider of valuable information and practical support in development. It employs students who want to work in a professional manner in development - adding value to microfinance and development organizations and the general public. The organization also functions as a centre for discussion and knowledge exchange among students from the world's leading universities.

Who is involved in the Student Microfinance & Development Initiative

The Initiative primarily works from the campuses of the world's leading universities - employing students from all different back-grounds to do research and create ventures. The SMDI Management takes care that all services SMDI provides with its partner institutions are assessed on quality and facilitated in any way possible. SMDI's partner institutions include student organisations, microfinance organizations, banking institutions and others. The students SMDI works with, the SMDI Fellows, belong to the brighest and most engaged among their peers.

How does the Student Microfinance & Development Initiative make an impact?

The impact of the Initiative can be assessed in different ways: on the one hand, the organisation provides students with valuable and hands-on experience in development by leveraging its status as an accredited charitable organization. These are the students that will one day make a difference in many people's lives. On the other hand the organisation supports development organizations with a lack of funds and the general public with professional research and other support.
